How to Install VLC Media Player 2.2.6 on Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 14.04

VLC Media Player 2.2.6 recently released, is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVDs, Audio CDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. How to install VLC Media Player 2.2.6 on Ubuntu 16.04 & Ubuntu 14.04

Note that there are currently no official linux packages for this release, hence we will be installing vlc 2.2.6 provided to us by a 3rd party PPA and that is currently only available for Ubuntu 16.04 & Ubuntu 14.04

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:videolan/stable-daily
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install vlc

How to uninstall VLC Media Player from Ubuntu 16.04 & Ubuntu 14.04

sudo add-get remove vlc
