How to install FFMpeg 3.3 Hilbert on Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 14.04

FFmpeg 3.3 a new major release recently released, is the leading multimedia framework, cross-platform solution that is used to decode, encode, transcode, mux, demux, stream,filter and play any audio or video files. How to uninstall FFmpeg 3.3 from Ubuntu

sudo apt install ppa-purge

sudo ppa-purge ppa:jonathonf/ffmpeg-3 && sudo apt autoremove

  • The title says “Ubuntu 17.04, Ubuntu 16.10” but the code is for 16.04 and 14.04. “jonathonf/ffmpeg-3” repo is not available for 17.04. How can one install on 17.04?

    • Thanks for notifing me of that. As seen that was an oversight on my part despite showing in the post that its for Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 14.04.

      I will investigate install for Ubuntu 17.04 and update post.
